Snake Dress - Soof Embroidery (Set of 2)

Inspiration

Celebrating the "year of the snake” We took inspiration from the retro snake game in the style of 8 bit art. Modern day emoticons and digital art are infact originally inspired or learnt from embroidery techniques such as these that followed a process of counting yarns on fabric, and building a motif using small embroidered squares and triangles.We used a rare embroidery called “Soof” to illustrate our concept.

What makes a dress artisanal?

Soof embroidery is a traditional hand-embroidery style practiced in this region of Gujarat, India, by the Sindhi community. Known for its vibrant, geometric designs and intricate stitching, Soof embroidery often incorporates mirror work and bright, bold colors like reds, greens, and blues.
