Constellation Shirt Dawn - Made in Lucknow, UP

Inspiration

Inspired by stargazing, the constellation shirt is hand embroidered in the Indian embroidery style of “mukaish work” where a metal wire is beaten by hand to form tiny dots representing stars. Led by my fascination towards astronomy and astrology, the pursuit of finding stars and their positions and finding meaning in such formations - is illustrated here in an open canvas. Pure silk tussar is dip dyed in ombré shades of the sky. Every night when I walk back home to my hill in Dharamkot, counting stars give me company.

Mukaish work is a delicate and intricate form of hand embroidery from Uttar Pradesh, especially associated with the city of Lucknow. This craft involves twisting fine metallic wires and embedding them into fabric to create subtle, reflective patterns that catch the light. Traditional motifs such as dots, stars, leaves, and vines are commonly used, adding texture and elegance to lightweight materials
