The High Tea Shirt celebrates the rare Indo-Jewish heritage through meticulous scallop and cutwork embroidery. The embroidery is taken from vintage tea napkins, and turned into a special pocket to keep your hanker-chief.
Playful and tongue in cheek, this oversized shirt will bring the much needed joy and laughter at brunch , ready for tea!
Inspiration
We visited a small shop in Mattancherry, where Mr. Thomas took us through a photo album, showing us pictures of British royalty with his embroidery. He showed us meticulous embroideries that old women from convents in Mattancherry do on tea mats, table cloths, so on. In my life I would never dare to eat on such exquisite embroideries. In all this I found a bit of humour.
What makes a shirt artisanal?
The high tea shirt is made with one such rare tea napkin, embroidered by grannies in Mattancherry, who would expect us to be very nice boys and girls!
